Business Management Skills in Practice

This project is for students on the Bronx campus of Mercy University. This experience focuses on equipping learners with the essential management skills required to thrive in both local and global markets. Participants will gain insights into environmental awareness, group dynamics, and organizational skills, applying sound management principles to real-world scenarios. Learners will be able to define management functions, understand ethical behavior, and discuss strategies for addressing environmental issues. They will also analyze managerial theories and assess organizational efforts, preparing them to tackle industry-relevant projects.

Our learners are capable of organizing, cleaning, and summarizing/visualizing data in a variety of different formats (see below), as well as offering advice on data collection and storage. Companies can benefit if they have data they wish to analyze but may not have resources to do so; or if companies wish to start up a data unit and need advice about which data to collect and how to store, organize, and retrieve it.

Mercy University’s Global Health course introduces students to essential health concepts and ethical frameworks that shape healthcare delivery worldwide. These advanced learners will apply their knowledge in data analysis, cultural competency, and ethical healthcare practices to tackle global health issues. Through this experience, students seek to build skills in global health data interpretation, social determinants of health, and comparative healthcare analysis. Employers are asked to participate in regular communications, provide necessary project information, attend a final virtual presentation, and give constructive feedback to student groups. Students will become proficient in popular packages such as IPython, NumPy, Pandas, Matplotlib, and Scikit-Learn, among others. Through hands-on practice and projects, students will learn how to manipulate, transform, and clean data; visualize various types of data; and build basic statistical (Exploratory Data Analysis) or machine learning models (regression, etc.).

The experience aligns seamlessly with the course's 18-hour field experience requirement. Sessions, held weekly on Zoom, provide dedicated class attendance and discussion time, fostering collaboration.This holistic approach equips candidates with practical skills for real-world challenges in educational leadership, addressing the dynamic nature of contemporary education.
